WebJan 3, 2014 · Flickering headlights usually mean one of two things, Either the headlight switch is going bad, or you have a bad ground in your headlights ground somewhere. A bad voltage regulator could cause the lights to dim at idle, I do suggest that he try replacing the voltage regulator first as the above poster suggested. Sounds like the battery can't charge and store any reserve.
